West Wales Gazetteer

The information, accessed from this menu, includes county and town descriptions, old postcards, census registration districts, parish and hundred boundary maps, church and chapel repository summaries, school records, archive holdings and addresses, with images and access to Ordnance Survey maps to identify the location of the places identified. The OS map images were scanned, at 200 dpi, from the early 20th century 1" outline series with OS National Grids superimposed. The Ordnance Survey map references were extracted from a number of sources and where significant differences were found, and there were many, these were reconciled through the local knowledge of members. The collection of church, chapel, school, and college photographs is an ongoing project by members and the Society gratefully acknowledges the following contributors, who retain the copyright on all photographs and research material, for permission to publish these on this website and any associated CD. Users are reminded that these can only be used for personal research and should not be copied for personal gain, or distribution in any form, without written permission from the contributor.
