Journal ArchiveThis society has published a Journal three times each year since 1982. This archive contains copies of every Journal published complete with an index to all the articles.Members’ Research InterestsMembers register names which somehow figure in their research. This index of members’ research interests contains thousands of names together with contact details of the member concerned.Dyfed Marriages 1813 -1837This index contains the names of all persons known to have married in Dyfed in the period 1813 - 1937. There is a male index and a female index.Dyfed StraysWhen researching family details outside the counties of Dyfed, Society members often encounter references to people born within Dyfed who subsequently moved to other places. These are often found in Census records, parish registers, quarter sessions records, newspapers and many other sources. Our database of Dyfed strays contains thousands of entries that can be searched using a number of parameters.1851 CensusBefore census data came available online our members transcribed the 1851 Census for several major towns in Dyfed. Although census data is readily available these indexes will help you identify likely candidates and families thus saving you time in searching the census. The towns covered are: Cardigan, Carmarthen, Haverfordwest, Llanelli and Pembroke. |
Personal ResearchMost family history research is an ongoing pursuit however some researchers are able to document a chapter of their work that they consider complete. This may be for family consumption or simply for personal satisfaction. From November 2014 members of this Society are able to publish these articles on this website.Pembroke PeopleThis book by Richard Rose details the men and women who lived in Pembroke and Pembroke Dock between 1818 and 1837. Every person is identified and placed in a structure showing his or her occupation and family connections.An Index to Pembroke People contains more than 5000 names listed in the book. The index is in 'pdf' format so can be freely searched. The book Pembroke People is available in record offices and some libraries in Dyfed. Rose Hill Cemetery, CaliforniaRose Hill Cemetery was created in the early 1860s and served as a burial ground for the coal field families. It was a protestant burial ground, and many of the people buried here were Welsh including people whose origins are in the counties of Dyfed.The histories of the people buried at Rose Hill have been researched using newspaper accounts, obituaries, and family histories, and published in Rose Hill: A Comprehensive History of a Pioneer Cemetery For those who have Welsh ancestors who immigrated to this area of America this book is an amazing source of family history.
